Appetizers are short, daily warm-ups that, like any good appetizer, are intended to tantalize the students’ Reading and Math appetites. These appetizers, when used in conjunction with reading programs and math practice help to reinforce skills such as main idea, making predictions, context clues and fact vs opinion.
Appetizers were developed to review reading skills continually in a short comprehensive format. Appetizers also give the teachers an opportunity to emphasize test-taking strategies and assist in the development of evaluating why or why not an answer is correct or incorrect.
