Novel Dishes

Novel Dishes use Newbery Award and honor books to reinforce standards-based skills like Fact and Opinion, Stated Main Idea, and Making Predictions.  They have mini-lessons and student-centered games, and use a set of chapters (1-8 for example) to teach a reading skill.  These novel dish reading lessons can be used to supplement your reading curriculum and lesson plans. For instance, when teaching students how to identify cause and effect, you might also choose to follow that lesson with a novel dish that focuses on cause and effect.
