Reading Program Main Dishes
Gourmet Learning’s Reading Program Main Dishes are designed to be a supplement to your reading lesson plans. These lesson plans include a whole-class instructional lesson for each reading skill listed below, games that reinforce these reading skills, several tests that you can use to determine student needs, and both reteach and enrichment lessons. These “main dishes” are a resource for teachers to provide additional practice with reading skills or to introduce a new skill to students.

In our reading lessons we try to utilize excerpts from actual Newbery award winning books when possible. Some of the books used in our objectives to teach skills like literary devices and context clues are: The Midwife’s Apprentice, Out of the Dust, Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy, and Hoot.
